Craft/Other Activities- Bowl For Kids’ Sake!
- Take a bike ride together there are several trails in the area
- Fly a kite at the park – for an extra challenge, make your own kites!
- Play soccer
- Go hiking
- Play catch
- Feed the ducks/birds at a local park
- Plant flowers or vegetables
- Go roller-skating, blading or ice skating
- Sporting Events – get email notices at 360-279-0466
- Go fishing at one of the many bodies of water (don't forget to get a fishing license)
- Go on a picnic
- City sponsored events (sports, street fair, parade, etc.)
- Check out a nearby Community Center
- Visit City Beach - swimming, basketball, climbing wall
- Take classes together at the YMCA, like dance/aerobic classes
- Play Frisbee, catch, basketball, volleyball, touch football, soccer, croquet, badminton, etc.
- Walk, train, and play with your dog together
- Go horseback riding
- Try out an indoor recreational places with air jumpers or trampolines. There is one in Mt. Vernon
- Take a walk and bring a memento bag to collect interesting objects along the way
- Attend a BBBS Match Activity – get to meet other matches just like you!
- Trim the hedges, mow the lawn, rake the leaves, and do other yard work together
- Go swimming or even play with the water hose or sprinkler in the backyard
- After you have been matched for
six
months, go on a camping trip, even
if it
is in your backyard or inside
(remember how much fun it was to throw a sheet over the dining room table) - Enjoy cloud watching on a nice day
- Make an obstacle course in your yard or local park and time each other
- Use sidewalk chalk and draw pictures on the sidewalk
- Play golf or putt-putt, or just hit golf balls at a driving range
- Blow bubbles
- Go to an auto show, boat show, or truck pull
- Go to a rock climbing gym
- Go to the library
- Visit the Seattle Zoo
- Check out the Arizona Science Center
- Seattle Art Museum
- Work on homework or school projects
- Children's Museum in Mt. Vernon
- Show your Little where you work

- Start a collection of something you are both interested in
- Form your own book club (with other matches) and/or read together
- Research your family trees together – the library and internet are great resources!
- Do a science project together using household products (find out what happens to an egg soaked in vinegar)
- Teach your Little how to change the oil in your car or any other handy skills you may have
- Look up new words in the dictionary
- Have your Little teach you something
- Visit the police station
- Visit the parks and gardens in Bellingham
- Visit a local courthouse and observe a court hearing
- Show your Little how to maintain his/her bike -- replace chain, repair brakes, etc.
- If your Little is a teenager, practice completing job and college applications
- Go to a gem and mineral show
- Play games on the internet or peruse your favorite age-appropriate sites together
- Call your Program Specialist and let them know about the activities you have tried
- Create flashcards with your
Little that correlates with his/her educational level
- Ride the bus - some Littles have NEVER experienced this!
- Create a Match scrapbook (use
photos/memorabilia from your outings - Make ice cream
- Do a puzzle together
- Put together a model car or plane
- Bake cookies or cakes from scratch
- Paint pottery together- ask for a discount!
- Make your own T-shirts with fabric markers and colored glue
- See a play
- Draw, paint, work with clay, or make paper-mache animals or casts of each other
- Play charades, checkers, chess, backgammon, or any board/card game
- Pop popcorn (the “old fashioned” way, not in the microwave) and watch a movie
- Go to a circus or carnival
- Attend your Little’s school play or sporting event to cheer him/her on!
- Go to local art fairs, festivals, and events
- Watch a parade
- Prepare a meal together from start to finish – try finding good recipes online or in your favorite cookbook - YUMMY!
- Visit your local Home Depot/Lowes for FREE Kids Workshops
- Write a letter to your Little on your match anniversary telling what you’ve noticed about him/her in the last year. Ex: positive changes, growth or maturity
- Make your own cards for holidays, birthdays, or thank you’s for friends/family
- Plan a money earning project and save money for a special event
- Build a bird house or feeder
- Try new restaurants/foods together
- Eat lunch with your Little at his/her school- get permission from parent/school
- Look through coupon books for 2 for 1 deals for your favorite activities
- Let your Little do chores and run errands with you
- Spend some time with your
Program Specialist! We love getting out of
the office and hanging out with our
matches! - Go to the movies
- Go to a local farm grower and make something with fruits/veggies
- Make wrapping paper from old magazines and newspaper
- Share family/vacation pictures with each other
- Listen to music together
- Show your Little your high school yearbook, baby pictures, old report cards, etc.
- Window shop at the mall
- Make a log cabin, picture frame, or anything you can think of out of popsicle stick
- Participate in BBBS Community events offered
- Volunteer for Habitat for Humanity or deliver food for Meals on Wheels
- Visit the local Humane Society
- Contact the Oak Harbor Food Bank and help box food for the needy
- Visit an assisted living center and entertain the elderly
- Volunteer with your church or your Little’s church
