What's a MATCH MAKER? Match Makers are monthly donors that help us create life-changing friendships by matching children (Littles) with mentors (Bigs). Not everyone has the time to be a Big, but anyone can be a Match Maker!
Support a match for an entire year with professional coaching and resources. A Big and a Little will form a friendship and TWO lives will be changed because of your donation!
Make the first meeting between a Big and a Little happen with this gift of $250 for professional match training! This includes safety training, best practices, and support from our professional staff!
Ensure the safety of youth in our program by funding a background check for one Big. The safety and well-being of youth in our program will always be our highest priority, so we spare no cost in ensuring our Bigs are fully vetted.

Matching gift programs vary by employer, in terms of eligibility and the maximum amount matched. Some companies match donations made by employees, retirees, board members and/or spouses. Does your employer, your spouse’s employer, or the employer from whom you or your spouse have retired have a matching gift program? Designate Big Brothers Big Sisters of Island County. Not sure? Contact us and we are happy to inquire on your behalf!
Gifts of donated goods, commodities, or services are also important to supporting our mission. Do you or your company have extra tickets to the zoo, aquarium, movies, sporting events, concerts, ballet, or other activities? In-kind gifts help the children in our program experience new things, but these donations may also serve as live or silent auction items at one of our special events. Please contact us directly. We love to have communications about donating large/heavy items prior to their arrival.
Facebook fundraisers are an easy way to encourage your friends to support us in honor of your birthday, anniversary or for no occasion at all. To create a fundraiser on Facebook follow these steps when in Facebook:
Satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) by making a Qualified Charitable Distribution directly to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Island County! This may lower your federal gross taxable income, which may provide other benefits, such as reduced Medicare premiums and lowering of taxable Social Security benefits. You can talk to your financial advisor, or call us today and we will be happy to help!
You invest and a child profits. It’s that simple. By making a donation in the form of stocks, bonds, mutual funds or other appreciated securities, you are making an investment in the future of children in our community. As a donor, you are entitled to take a charitable deduction for the full fair-market value of appreciated securities held longer than one year. Contact us directly, and we will be happy to help you make this happen!
A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a centralized vehicle for charitable giving that makes it easy for donors to dedicate funds to support charitable organizations. It also provides an operationally convenient and tax-efficient method for donors to manage their charitable giving. You can make a gift now if your DAF is with one of the financial institutions in the drop down menu in the DAF Direct Widget below. There are no fees from DAF Direct. Other DAF's are able to be utilized as well, just contact us directly to find out more!
